As the world gears up for a more environment-friendly future, the global aviation industry is under much scrutiny. The aviation industry is a major contributor of carbon dioxide, producing 12% of global emissions every year. The airline industry in United States (U.S) alone contributed to 16.2 billion gallons of fuel being burnt during the twelve months period between October 2013 and September 2014.
We are an IT consulting company, Slice and Dice, which provides a wide range of data warehousing solutions to our clients. This year, we are hired by the U.S Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to assess the impact of carbon tax on various airlines in U.S, if it were to be implemented by US government. The motivation behind this move is to strike a balance between providing enough incentive and avoiding over-taxing.
